We were very lucky that Nick was able to take a week off of work, so as Marine wife that never gets to take vacation with her WHOLE family took advantage of Nick’s time off and booked a last minute trip to Myrtle Beach. We stayed at the Dunes Village Resort. It was a condo like building with an indoor water park. It had everything we needed to make our kiddos happy. We ventured out to Broadway on the Beach one night and ate at Margaritaville. We were those parents that took the kids out way passed their bedtime. We haven’t really experienced this feeling before. We were walking around the shops and playing in the arcade waiting on our table. The kids were having so much fun and doing so good to be almost 8:30 at night. I promise you as soon as we walked into the restaurant and order our food they BOTH went down hill. Yes, we were those parents that were trying to entertain the kiddos with Netflix off of our phones…nope that didn’t work. Ok—what next ok we will order them smoothies that should occupy them for a while. Nope..just made our bill more expensive, so finally our food came and they were fine for about 5 mins then the restaurant starts playing Margaritaville and the whole place turns into a storm and let’s just say Carter takes after his mother and was terrified. So nick ate his meal the best he could with Carter in his mouth while I stood up and bounced and walked around with Kensi. Then it was my turn to eat while Nick entertained the kids. What an experience and it reminded me whey we don’t venture out too much after bedtime. Needles to say we learned our lesson and also made memories.
browsing the shops..kensi found what she wanted to buy…and don’t let these smiles fool you at the restaurant ![]()
playing in the arcade
The water park was great fun. It had a lazy river and water slides. A kid area with just 1 foot of water that Kensi loved to splash in and do squats. She was too cute playing in the water after she finally got brave in it. Carter was our brave boy who decided he would go down the water slide all by himself the 1st time. Well he chose the slide that had turns in it. He ended up turning around backwards about half way down and freaking out and stopped himself. Nick thinking he could save the day he went down and BOOM crashed right into carter. Needless to say carter cried and never went down the slide again by himself. Can I just say this was the 1st of 3 days we were there. He did go down again in our laps but never alone. Kensi Jo did a few turns down the slide as well. She wasn’t that happy about it nor was she scared!
**When I find the little camera we took ill update the blog with pictures from the water park fun!
We couldn’t leave Mrytle Beach without playing Putt Putt. We told Carter to start looking as we were driving in at the one he wanted to go too. I think he was overwhelmed with all the options so he just told us to choose. how sweet right? We ended up at an Animal Safari Putt Putt course. He had a blast. It was pretty chilly that day but we were able to have fun and get some great photos! After putt putt we went to the Pirate Voyage show. IT WAS A BLAST! Both kids loved it. The food was great and the show was excellent. Carter went and got dressed up for the show at one of their booths (yes we paid for it) he even got his own sword. He was in heaven. I would highly recommend this show for children of all ages!
Look how kensi thought she should help with the playing of putt putt
Kensi and her daddy…she loves her da da and then our pirate ARRRGHHH

a little pirate fight after the show in the condo…
The last morning we took a spin around the lazy river one last time and got all checked out and went to browse through the outlets. You know what mom really wanted to do on this trip! I was able to get everyone’s outfit for our Christmas photo which I still haven’t scheduled to get taken. So glad we had an opportunity to get away and make memories as a family. We really did have a great time.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Well maybe all but the resturant. Ask your Mom about the time we took Shawn and Jessie to a steak in Wilmington, and it was not even bed time. Memories are wonderful things to make.
